In 1994 Luis Fernando Velez founder and CEO of Amor Perfecto was triggered by the fact that Colombia was renowned worldwide for having the best green coffee in the world, yet the coffee we consumed internally was of the poorest quality. In fact, there was a law that prohibited local roasteries to buy, roast and sell export-quality coffee within Colombia. Mr. Velez took it onto himself to change this, and make sure that Colombia had everything it could to offer Colombians and visitors the best cup of coffee in the world. After pleading to modify the law and allow Colombian roasteries to buy, roast and sell export-quality coffee Mr. Velez was the first person to ever be granted a permit by the FNC (Federacion Nacional de Cafeteros, a government agency dedicated to promoting and regulating the coffee industry in Colombia) to do so. Ever since, Amor Perfecto has been dedicated not only to produce coffee of the highest quality but also to develop a culture of high-quality coffee within Colombia.
