Manganese is one of the microelements of higher demand for crops, since its content in the leaf tissue is high. This accelerates the formation element and homogeneous fruit ripening, helps the formation of chlorophyll and stimulates, along with zinc (Zn) and copper (Cu), using calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P) and magnesium (Mg).

The amount of manganese (Mn) in the soil is generally very low in hillside soils and alluvial acids. The chemistry of this micronutrient, as the iron (Fe), is very complex. Its defciency increases as the Fe dominates drained under bad conditions. In acid soils it may be limited by excess Fe, while in neutral to alkaline soils, its absorption is limited by the formation of hydroxides in soils
high in organic matter can be fxed. When the element is oxidized, there is little available to be absorbed by plants.
