The cocoa tree is a plant of tropical type that grows in warm, humid climates.Cocoa belongs to the genus Theobroma which in Greek means "Food of the Gods" family of bitneriaceas.

The cocoa beans is enclosed in a seed fruit, similar to cucumber. The cacao tree has a lifespan of 40 years.

A cocoa pod always contains an even number of seeds or beans. The fruit can reach a length of 15 to 25 centimeters. When you open the fruit, you appear accommodated in the fleshy part between 30 and 40 seeds of cocoa, washing and drying that are used to prepare a drink called "Chocolate".
